As the world knows, Rush became hooked on pain medication, which he was taking for chronic back and neck pain. He has since gone through intense rehabilitation and continues to receive therapy. In Palm Beach County and elsewhere, this usually ends the matter--but Rush apparently provides too juicy a target for a hungry partisan prosecutor. Krischer's office first leaked stories to the media claiming that Rush was under investigation for money laundering The process of taking the proceeds of criminal activity and making them appear legal. Laundering allows criminals to transform illegally obtained gain into seemingly legitimate funds. . Next, it asserted that he was part of a drug ring. Now Krischer is supposedly looking into "doctor shopping doctor shopping Psychiatry The visiting of multiple physicians, each time with a new symptom Substance abuse The seeking of doctors who will prescribe opioids and opiates. See Drug-seeking behavior. ." In this regard, Rush's medical records were seized from four different doctors' offices, without the government's following the usual subpoena process. Krischer then had Rush's prescription records posted on a public website, and they in turn were flashed across television screens for days. Krischer claimed that both the Florida bar and the state attorney general's top ethics official advised him to do it, but both deny it.
