Debra Arlyn may have the most Valentine's-themed concerts, but there are plenty of other options to mark the holiday. A sample of local offerings:

A Chocolate Affair

Saturday, Eugene Country Club

From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the Eugene Country Club, 255 Country Club Road, will be transformed into a chocolate lover's dream. A benefit for the Wilani Camp Fire Council, the event will feature chocolate for sale, live music, local artisan vendors, silent auction and a chocolate carving contest. Tickets are a tax-deductible $15, and available at the Camp Fire Office, 3575 Donald St., and a few local businesses. Call 344-4856 for more information.

Eugene Gleemen Sweetheart Ball

Saturday, Hilton Eugene

The fourth annual Sweetheart Ball, sponsored by the Eugene Gleemen, will feature local big band Swing Shift. On the Rocks, a male a cappella a cap·pel·la

The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Hilton's Playwright's Room, 66 E. Sixth Ave., with ballroom dancing from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets are $70 per couple. Call 485-5122 to purchase tickets.

A Film Festival for Teens

Monday through Thursday,

Eugene library branches

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the library will sponsor a movie from a different decade and provide free popcorn. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday movies will screen at the downtown branch of the library, 100 W. 10th Ave.

The Wednesday film is at the Bethel Bethel, in the Bible

Tuesday, Tiny Tavern tavern: see inn.  

Immaculate Machine, a power-trio from Canada, plays Tuesday at Tiny's, 394 Blair Blvd. The band's press materials promise "soaring and steady three-part harmonies, rotating lead vocals, intricate melodies and thought-provoking lyrics." The free show begins about 10 p.m.

Americanistan

and Tribal Belly Dancers

Tuesday, Iraila

Have dinner and watch Tribal Belly Dancers perform to live music by Americanistan. Americanistan has been performing acoustic world music on traditional instruments for more than 14 years. The show runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Iraila Mediterranean Rustica, 2435 Hilyard St. Call 684-8400 to make dinner reservations.

The NRQ Valentine's Massacre

Tuesday, John Henry's

The pipe guy, aka Mike Silverman, is a classically trained bass player who decided to go the weird route musically and play the magic pipe. Eugene indie band the Crash Engine also will take the stage, followed by headliners Rose Hill Drive, a rock band out of Colorado.

The show starts at 9 p.m. Advanced tickets are available at TicketMaster outlets for $6. Tickets are also $6 at the door at John Henry's, 77 W. Broadway.

Pearls and Brass Pearls and Brass are a stoner metal band from Nazareth, Pennsylvania. History
The band members began playing together in 1996, but did not officially form the band until 2001.
 

Tuesday, Luckey's

Pennsylvania-based Pearls and Brass claim in their press materials they take the hard rock power-trio to a new place, and that the band's shows are filled with three kinds of smoke: "The good kind, the kinds that comes from speakers exploding, and maybe even some from a sheriff's gun." The commotion starts at 10 p.m. Luckey's Club Cigar Store Luckey’s Club Cigar Store was purchased in 1911 by Tad Luckey, Sr., the son of Irish immigrants and an early Eugene pioneer. It is the oldest retail business in downtown Eugene, and one of the oldest bars in Oregon. , 933 Olive St. The cover is $3.

(inc. 1850). , will join Portland's Fog- horn Stringband for a Valentine's dance.
