. The tower, 30 feet taller than nearby trees, would be painted brown and camouflaged with fake branches to disguise it as a white pine. The "tree" would be placed on forested Pilot Knob, which is up Buck Mountain, a popular spot with artists. Nextel says its tower will be "unobtrusive"; opponents call it "Frankenpine." Brian Houseal of The Adirondack Council told AP that having the fake tree towering above Signal Knob was akin to "painting a beard and mustache on the Mona Lisa."
