The451 Appoints Online News Pioneer as CEO; Relocates Headquarters to New York.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 2001

The451, the paid-for, technology news analysis service, today named Martin V. McCarthy as Chief Executive Officer. McCarthy was most recently providing angel funding and strategic counsel to interactive service start-ups since completing the sale of IDD (1) (International Direct Dial) Long distance dialing between countries without operator intervention. Also known as international standard dialing (ISD).  Enterprises, LP/Investment Dealers' Digest to Dow Jones & Company in 1998.

McCarthy succeeds Dan Gardner from Durlacher Corporation plc who had served since March as interim CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . UK investment bank Durlacher has backed The451 since its inception, and continues to provide funding.

McCarthy's first responsibility is to move company headquarters from London to New York's Silicon Alley. The company will maintain its London presence as well as its San Francisco bureau.

Prior to IDD, he served as Vice-President, Office Message and Information services at Western Union Corporation.
