The write way to grow.

I read the article in the November November: see month.  2006 issue of BLACK ENTERPRISE about self-publishing ("The Write Way to Grow") and thought it was very misleading.

People who are going to tackle the world of self-publishing need to understand that publishing on demand is not always the best way to go if you are a businessperson. With publishing on demand, the company makes moat of the money. Not only do you pay a one-time one-time

fee for the service--usually anywhere from $499 and up--you also have to purchase any additional books you might want. So you are paying for your books twice. Then, when your books begin to sell online, the writer/publisher gets a considerably smaller percentage of the profit. Most companies give the publisher only around 3%. This is a travesty.

I have done extensive research on self-publishing. I published one title in 2001 and learned a lot from the mistakes I made. I am now about to publish my second novel. And with my knowledge on the publishing industry, I can use the hard lessons I have learned to help someone else.
