The world's oldest man, Joan Riudavets Joan Riudavets Moll (Menorca, December 15, 1889 – March 5, 2004) was a supercentenarian and the oldest verified person ever in the history of Spain. He became the oldest recognized person in Europe on the death of Italian Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio in May 2003, and the Moll, 113, holds a picture of himself at age 20. Moll, who lives on Menorca, one of Spain's Balearic Islands Balearic Islands (bălēăr`ĭk), Span. Baleares (bälāä`rās), archipelago, off Spain, in the W Mediterranean, forming Baleares prov. (1990 pop. , was born on Dec. 15, 1889. He became the world's oldest man on September 28 with the death of 114-year-old Yukichi Chuganji Yukichi Chuganji (中願寺 雄吉, Chūganji Yūkichi of Japan. The world's oldest woman is Japan's Kamato Hongo, 116.
