Imagine that you're the chair of the search committee working on the request for proposal for the management of your association. You've described the programs and services that your organization provides to members and outlined the management services required to support those activities. Your committee meets and talks about how to evaluate the qualifications of the companies whose proposals you receive. How can you address qualifications in your RFP (Request For Proposal) A document that invites a vendor to submit a bid for hardware, software and/or services. It may provide a general or very detailed specification of the system.

on companies that have completed the application process and met the standards developed by ASAE's Accreditation Commission. The accreditation program addresses vital areas of business operation and client support. The commission is an independent accrediting body composed of a diverse group of individuals representing not only the association management company profession but also legal, financial, and academic advisers to the profession.

Working with an accredited company assures your association that the firm is maintaining appropriate levels of insurance, is bonding its employees, and is not comingling client funds. You can be confident that the firm is committed to confidentiality and protection of your association's records and data, operates ethically, and avoids conflicts of interest. Accredited companies hire qualified staff, support professional credentialing, and represent themselves accurately to your organization. And you are assured that your accounts and funds are managed in compliance with accounting rules and regulations developed by the Financial Accounting Standards Board Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)

Board composed of independent members who create and interpret Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

The articles in this directory provide insights about hiring and working with AMCs and case studies of successful transitions. The directory also designates ASAE-accredited companies.
