The reason in revolt website project.
The Reason in Revolt website project (www.reasoninrevolt.net.au),
which brings together primary source documents of Australian radicalism,
has been rescued from insolvency by a five-year commitment from the
estate of the late Roger Coates, courtesy of his partner, Barbara
Fitzgerald. Roger Coates devoted himself to his great intellectual
passion--exploring the roots of the labour and socialist movements, both
in Australia and internationally. Roger had an encyclopaedic knowledge
of the Australian labour movement and its various strands, radical,
reformist and revolutionary, from the 1880s to the 1920s and beyond. The
website has been managed since its inception in 2005 by Verity Burgmann
at the University of Melbourne, often precariously, but she is now able
to offer labour history scholars the opportunity of contributing primary
source documents to this website and to be paid for the privilege of so
doing. If you have documents you would like to contribute to the
website, please contact Verity at vnb@unimelb.edu.au.
