This report examines the impact of wireless and mobile computing Using a computing device while in transit. Mobile computing implies wireless transmission, but wireless transmission does not necessarily imply mobile computing. Fixed wireless applications use satellites, radio systems and lasers to transmit between permanent objects such as buildings  technologies in education. It was conductedin association with the nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.

 and reflects the result of a nationwide survey of schools and school districts that received 184 responses.

The report looks at student and teacher access, current and projected expenditures, wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  platform choices, wireless device brand preferences, types of purchases and preferred software applications. Among the findings: 62 percent of respondents indicated some form of wireless technology implementation, and 57 percent will spend more on wireless technologies for the 2002-2003 school year than last year.
