The paper chase.

Q A Help. I'm drowning drowning /drown·ing/ (droun´ing) suffocation and death resulting from filling of the lungs with water or other substance.

in paper--everything from newspaper clippings to correspondence to family photos. I already have a scanner. What is the best way to cut the clutter and back up my existing files?

--L. Johnson

A There are tons of options for clearing up the paper clutter. Online, sites like I-drive (www.idrive.com) and x-drive (www.xdrive.com) let you store information for free. I-drive, in particular, gives you unlimited storage for text, images, and MP3 files. Remember though, that with online storage, if you can't access the site, you can't access your information.

If you want to go with a hardware option for file storage and backup, check out the Iomega Zip and Jaz drives See Jaz disk.

(hardware, storage) Jaz Drive - Iomega Corporation's drive which takes removable one or two gigabyte disk cartridges which contain conventional hard disks.
(www.iomega.com) or a CD-RW (CD-ReWritable) The only rewritable CD technology. CD-RW disks look like other CD media, but with close inspection, they have a more polished surface with a very dark blue-gray cast.  (Rewritable) drive like the Ricoh MP7120A or the Toshiba SD-R SD-R Signal Degrade-Ring 1002. Depending on your needs and budget, you can expect to spend anywhere from nothing (for free online storage) to about $600 (for hardware plus the cost of disks) to store your data,
