Contraction of I am.

Our Living Language Speakers of some scattered varieties of American English sometimes use I'm instead of I've or I have in present perfect constructions, as in
 a 37-year-old man who worked in corporate America in the technology sector for 15 years until I was laid off. Now I'm trying to find something I love, Do you have any suggestions?
