Now there's a laptop that rivals your desktop. Apple's new 17-inch PowerBook G4 claims to sport the largest display ever to grace a portable. But it's still a lightweight (6.8 pounds) and skinny, to boot (1 inch thin). Another first: the G4 features a fiber optic backlit keyboard. A light sensor automatically adjusts the keyboard and screen brightness based on the available ambient light. The G4 includes both Airport (802.11g) and Bluetooth wireless connectivity. For high-speed data transfer from video cameras, projectors, and other gadgets, the G4 has two FireWire ports to support both FireWire 400 and new FireWire 800 peripherals.
