The new normal. (Communication).

A recent Gallup poll found that 7 in 10 Americans reported that they are depressed and one in two find it difficult to concentrate. Americans are searching for a sane path in a less secure world.

How will we find the new normal? We will instinctively gather. We need face time with people who matter to us so we can figure out how we feel and what to do next. Now is the time to create, not cancel conferences, dinners with friends, and family get-togethers. Consider these elements to cement relationships in an uncertain world.

* PLACE TIME: Whether it is renting couches for your conference room or taking walks with members, find new ways to make the places you meet more meaningful.

* FACE TIME: Tapping the keyboard does not feel the same as shaking hands. Seeing an e-mail does not feel the same as smiling back at someone. Make time for conversation with friends, family, peers, and even past critics.

* GRACE TIME: Give thanks to each other, offer smarter support sooner, and realize the power of mutual support. Rather than finding fault, find ways to praise the actions of others that you want to flourish.

* CHANGE OF PACE TIME: Try to multitask less, seize the moment, celebrate, and reminisce.
