MY FAVOURITE THINGS

Who was your favourite role model? I had a female political science professor in first year university who inspired me to contemplate a university career, and a (male) dean with whom I worked, who taught me some of the human skills that go along with administrative ones in a university setting.

What is your favourite sport? That has changed over time: I went from swimming, to squash squash: see gourd; pumpkin.

What would you consider a great night out?

Having a long, leisurely fine meal with a group of great people.

What is your favourite book? No one, single favourite, but Canadian women authors such as Margaret Atwood, Carol Shields Carol Ann Shields (née Warner),BA, MA, CC , OM , D.Litt. , LL.D , FRSC (June 2, 1935 – July 16, 2003) was an American-born Canadian author. She is best known for her 1993 novel The Stone Diaries, which won the U.S. , Alice Munro-I try to read everything they publish.

What is your favourite type of music?

Classical and, more precisely, chamber music like Mozart or Schubert string quartets string quartet

Ensemble consisting of two violins, viola, and cello, or a work written for such an ensemble. Since c. 1775 such works have been perhaps the predominant genre of chamber music.
. But I also like folk, blues, country, jazz.

. They have to look at themselves to see how they can do better and their communication skills with people are important.

"But most important they've got to want the job ... they've got to have that enthusiasm. You want to have somebody who wants to be there and wants to do their best all the time and they won't do that if they don't have that want."

What parts of personality are your strengths? Which are your liabilities?

"The compassion compassion,
n a profound awareness of another's suffering coupled with a desire to alleviate that suffering.
, energy and optimism I have for the industry. I always think there's going be something better. I hope for the best. You need hope. That's my biggest strength, I don't give up easily and I believe in people.

"Again, that will work the other way because sometimes I'll trust people that I really shouldn't and I can really get caught. And my compassion because I can get pulled into things because I believe so much in something."

What's the most enjoyable aspect of your job?

"With my job, because it's creating a plan or a vision and a destiny, it's about creating a new project and watching it grow, that's very satisfying. When you facilitate, you pull people together, you're building something from nothing where there isn't anything there, there's excitement because it can go either way. And when it starts to happen and it comes together, it's really exciting like a roller roller, common name for brightly colored Old World birds noted for performing somersaults in flight. What was the turning point in your life?

"When my father became ill and my mother (Carmel) passed away. I started to look at life and tried to establish more priorities with my kids and my family and (understand) the value of life."

If you weren't in this line of work, what other professional pursuits would you have attempted?

"I never really thought of that. I think I always want to be in this business. I was involved in teaching. I could be a cook; there's probably a multitude of things I could do. It doesn't really matter what I do as long as I'm happy doing it."

How did you get into the business?

"My father (Bert Williamson) got me interested in different levels of the (construction) business. He later became a police officer, but he started out in town as a builder, he was more of a supervisor and was a carpenter but he got me pointed in that direction.

"I started my first business in Grade 4, tying flies for fly-fishing and we were importing material from England. My dad helped me, it was my idea but he helped me and he gave me direction. I bought every appliance my mom owns before I was 10."
