This informal, highly personal paean Paean (pē`ən), Paean was an epithet for Apollo, the healer. The paean, a hymn of praise to Apollo and often to other gods, was sung as a prayer for safety or deliverance at battles and other important occasions.  to corporate creativity evolved from Little's own experience trying to order a milkshake from hotel room service. He was told it wasn't possible--but then he had the foresight to ask for the ice cream and the milk to be delivered, and created it himself.

His central point is that organizations create barriers around product or service issues and tell customers that things can't be done. "The 'milkshake moment,'" he writes, "is that precise instant when an organization's individuals realize that they are allowed to do the right things--to serve the interests of others in order to grow the organization--instead of simply following the status quo [Latin, The existing state of things at any given date.] Status quo ante bellum means the state of things before the war. The status quo to be preserved by a preliminary injunction is the last actual, peaceable, uncontested status which preceded the pending controversy.  or an arcane set of rules and procedures."
