Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos have recorded all of their albums live in the studio, with only one or two takes per track; "The Secret Sun" is no exception. Mostly a collection of ballads, the new album was written in 2002 and released in May of this year.

"Everything good that happened with this band originally came as a result of us playing live. So when we started making records, we tried to capture the feeling of a live performance," Harris said in a news release. "Each of our records has a slightly different vibe. I think this one's pretty moody."

Jesse Harris and the Ferdinandos come to Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd., on Monday. Jonathan Rice will open the show at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
