Hyperion Solutions Hyperion has leveraged its strong heritage in analytical applications for financial management and its 2003 acquisition of BI tools vendor Brio (Brio Technology, Palo Alto, CA, www.brio.com) A software company founded in 1989 and acquired by Hyperion Solutions Corporation in 2003 that specialized in enterprise analysis and reporting programs that run on several platforms.  to build a broad and integrated performance management suite covering (on the applications side) modelling, planning budgeting, forecasting, consolidation and reporting and (in BI) query and reporting, analysis and performance metrics.

IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. Microsoft Microsoft will beef up its BI and data warehousing line-up with the late summer release of SQL Server 2005. Alongside a completely rewritten ETL product, Integration Services, are upgraded versions of Analysis Services and Reporting Services, It is also adding BI Development Studio, for building BI applications that work across all its BI offerings, and Server Management Studio, for managing BI data. Separately, the company offers analytic capabilities for its four mid-market business applications.

Until the late 1990s, NCR was heavily invested in the hardware side of the industry, known worldwide as a major manufacturer of computers  Teradata Teradata leads the market for high-end data warehouse platforms with its parallel query engine for NCR and Windows servers. The company also provides data mining tools.

Oracle After several years of weak enthusiasm for BI (other than the use of its database for data warehouses), Oracle is now back with a major refresh of its product line. Business Intelligence 10g, which shipped in March 2005, has enhanced functionality across its reporting, analysis, ETL and application development modules, a consistent user interface and an Excel add-in. Alongside BI 10g, Oracle provides a series of analytical applications for financial, sales and performance analysis.
