The honeymooners.

On August 2 a Columbus, Ohio Columbus is the capital and the largest city of the American state of Ohio. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. , radio station awarded an all-expenses-paid vacation to Brigit Brigit

think the station would pick a lesbian couple, but when the ride stopped and their seat was closest to the ground, that's exactly what happened. Now they're heading to Sedona, Ariz., for a five-day "honeymoon."

Why did you enter this contest?

We've always listened to 97.3 [WBNS-FM], so when they announced the contest, and we entered, we thought that would be it. Then, when the station selected us to participate, we thought that would be it. We were just enjoying the ride, fighting the heat like everybody else. Brigit doesn't like heights, so she was kind of nervous, but we didn't at all think we'd get the trip.

Why not?

There isn't a lot of support for gay marriage in Columbus. It's really a small Republican town. And since it's such a controversial topic right now, we didn't think the radio station would let the car with the gay couple in it stop closest to the ground.

Was this the first time you exchanged vows?

We've had four previous commitment ceremonies: twice at Columbus Gay Pride, once when we participated in the Millennium March on Washington Millennium March on Washington was a controversial LGBT event held April 28 through April 30, 2000 in Washington, DC.[1] A march from the Washington Monument to the front lawn of the Capitol took place on April 30, where the crowd was addressed by several members of , D.C., in 2000, and again in Portland, Ore., back when it was legal for gay couples to marry there [in 2004]. And now we've been married on a Ferris wheel. We figure we'll get it right one of these days.

So will this be your fifth honeymoon?

We always said we would take a real honeymoon when we are able to get married in Ohio, but this is a free trip, so we're taking it.
