The homosexual assault continues.Toronto--On August 15, the Ontario Elementary Teachers Federation executive overwhelmingly passed a resolution to lobby for the provision of "gay-friendly" resource material throughout Ontario. The motion said the federation would "encourage school boards to establish funding" for educational materials on "gay" issues. Legally the decision must be left with local boards. The rationale used to convince union members to support the resolution was to spare the suffering of children of alternative "families" who may be teased or bullied in the schoolyard. The Toronto School Board has for several years implemented what it calls "anti-homophobia" lessons in its secondary curriculum. The "anti-homophobia" title is a disguise for promoting acceptance of the sodomite SODOMITE. One who his been guilty of sodomy. Formerly such offender was punished with great severity, and was deprived of the power of making a will. lifestyle. Trustee Bruce Davis This article is about the American football player. Many other public school boards may feel pressured to join in. Catholic schools are by no means immune from this type of pressure. In fact, a number of years ago the Toronto Catholic Board approved "anti-homophobia" sessions (see C.I., May and July/August 1994). As for today, no resolution has been reached on the controversial HIV/AIDS HIV/AIDS Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome curriculum proposed in some Catholic school boards a few years ago. As for OECTA OECTA Ontario English Catholic Teachers' Association , the Catholic Teachers Association, in the past it has been favourable to "sexual orientation sexual orientation n. On the other hand, the chairman of the Ontario Parents Council said he was "flabbergasted flab·ber·gast tr.v. flab·ber·gast·ed, flab·ber·gast·ing, flab·ber·gasts To cause to be overcome with astonishment; astound. See Synonyms at surprise. [Origin unknown. " that teachers would go ahead on such an issue without consulting parents (Star, Aug. 17); and the National Post denounced the idea in an editorial "Leave our kids alone" (Aug. 15). Comments: One hopes that Catholic parents, teachers and trustees will make it abundantly clear that all pro-homosexual proselytizing will be banned from Ontario's Catholic schools with its 630,000 students. Indeed, what is needed is an outspoken pro-life program dealing with the medical-moral Catholic ethics of contraception, abortion, euthanasia, etc., not watered down with NDP-oriented social justice or Mother Earth issues. The same is true for the rest of the country. One other note: Many Catholic students go to public schools, especially in large cities.
