The greening of gay.I found the article "Gay and Green" [January 16] refreshing, interesting, and inspiring. Thank you for publishing something a bit different. The Advocate's political and activist coverage is usually good and interesting, but the silly "celebrity of the moment" profiles and interviews are something I could easily live without. It is important to share the stories of gay people doing such selfless self·less adj. Having, exhibiting, or motivated by no concern for oneself; unselfish: "Volunteers need both selfish and selfless motives to sustain their interest" Natalie de Combray. and important work. Getting the word out about individuals such as these will help the world get to know us better as a community and to recognize that gay people come in a wide variety of flavors. I hope to meet a "gay and green" partner one day, which is not easy in Miami Beach Miami Beach, city (1990 pop. 92,639), Dade co., SE Fla., on an island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean; inc. 1915. [From Latin statement regarding causes of cancer in The Advocate, but this time I feel compelled to address this issue. In the article "Gay and Green" there is a statement regarding breast cancer that reads, "Barbara Brenner and Jeanne Rizzo attack environmentally caused cancers." This statement is patently false. There is no such thing as an "environmentally caused cancer." There are no data that confirm that a person's cancer was caused by the environment.
