The good he could do for the country (CANADA).Montreal--Pierre Elliot Trudeau, 80, Canada's former Prime Minister from 1968-1984, is reported to be ill. Over the last few years Trudeau has returned to the Church and is reported to be a daily Mass goer and communicant. A September 8 newsreport quoted a Catholic priest saying that he had been asked to "be available". Trudeau, of course, is responsible for the horrendous legislation of the late sixites, especially that of making abortion legal and acceptable. The best thing Mr. Trudeau could do for his country and himself today is to publicly disown this legislation. One hopes that his confessor will urge him to do so, preferably in writing, if it is too late to do so in a press conference. Since the 1969 legislation 2 1/2 million Canadian babies have been murdered under its provisions. |
