In 1973, the company became the Michigan Ballet Theatre. It performed annually in regional festivals until Kreason's retirement in 1990. Kreason, born on March 18, 1922, died at 79 on May 22, 2001. She cared deeply about the regional ballet movement, serving as president of the Mid-States and as its representative on the board of the National Association for Regional Ballet.
