The end of an era.

The very first production-configuration T-38 'White Rocket' pilot training aircraft, built for the US Air Force by (then) Northrop, made its final touchdown at the company facility near Los Angeles Airport on 5 November 2007. The T-38 served 46 years training US Air Force, US Navy and Nasa pilots and was the oldest of its kind still in service, having been delivered to the US Air Force on 31 January 1961. T-38 trainers have prepared an estimated 80,000 military pilots to fly front-line fighters and bombers. The aircraft, sporting tail number N963, will remain on permanent static display at the company's Integrated Systems headquarters in El Segundo, California.
