The cost of war: in lives and dollars.


As discussed in the article "Vietnam Vietnam (vēĕt`näm), officially Socialist Republic of Vietnam, republic (v), 128,400 sq mi (332,642 sq km), Southeast Asia. Occupying the eastern coastline of the Southeast Asian peninsula, Vietnam is bounded by China on the north, by Laos : The War That's Still With Us," wars exact a great tort tort, in law, the violation of some duty clearly set by law, not by a specific agreement between two parties, as in breach of contract. When such a duty is breached, the injured party has the right to institute suit for compensatory damages.  on the home front as weft as on the battlefield.

During its history, the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  has fought in major wars at least once about every three decades. The wars have varied greatly in terms of their cost in dollars and in the lives of American American, river, 30 mi (48 km) long, rising in N central Calif. in the Sierra Nevada and flowing SW into the Sacramento River at Sacramento. The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill (see Sutter, John Augustus) along the river in 1848 led to the California gold rush of  troops.

Some 4,400 Americans died fighting the British in the Revolutionary War, and 2,300 died in the rematch REMATCH Cardiology Clinical trials–Randomized Evaluation of Mechanical Assistance Therapy as an alternative in Congestive Heart failure–related to use of a portable, electric left ventricular-assist system–LVAS–eg, HeartMate®  in 1812--figures that pate in comparison with the numbers who died in the Civil War. (So many died that the numbers had to be divided to fit into this graph).

In the current war in Iraq Iraq or Irak (both: ēräk`, ĭrăk`), officially Republic of Iraq, republic (2005 est. pop. 26,075,000), 167,924 sq mi (434,924 sq km), SW Asia. , more than 3,000 Americans have been killed (and some 23,000 wounded). And the cost of the war has so far been more than $360 billion.
