"If we all gave just a little ... just think how great our communities would be."

Q Why did you want this job?

All my life I have always tried to give back to the community. When I was a young guy growing up in Schumacher, people helped each other; that's how you got things done. Since that time, I have been a believer that if we all work together, there is nothing we can't accomplish.

I love walking. We usually rent a cottage in the Ottawa Valley The Ottawa Valley is the valley surrounding the Ottawa River for the west-east portion of its path through the Canadian Shield from Mattawa to Hawkesbury. Because of the surrounding shield, the valley is narrow at its western end, then becomes increasingly wide (mainly on the  for a week in the summer. I walk on the golf course (I don't shoot so well) and after that I relax in the hot tub. In fact, I just purchased a hot tub for my home.

Q If you weren't doing what you're doing, what would you be doing?

I have been very fortunate in my life. I have been a volunteer fireman for 26 years. I have been in politics, on all kinds of committees and I have the greatest job going in the construction field. I pretty well do something different every day. I would not change anything. Life is great.

Q What can the chamber do to spur growth in Timmins?

I see so much potential for Northern Ontario Northern Ontario is the part of the province of Ontario which lies north of Lake Huron (including Georgian Bay), the French River and Lake Nipissing.

Northern Ontario has a land area of 802,000 km² (310,000 mi²) and constitutes 87% of the land area of Ontario, although it
, especially when you look at the price of base metals and gold and the great exploration opportunities that exist here. We believe that by working together, instead of in our own silos, the whole of the North can benefit, not just Timmins.

Q Are there any hot new projects in the hopper A tray, or chute, that accepts input to a mechanical device, such as a disk duplicator or printer. In the days of punch cards, millions of cards were numerically or alphabetically organized by placing them into the hopper of a card sorter, taking them out of all the stackers and putting  for the Chamber?

We really want to develop a working relationship with our friends on the James Bay James Bay, shallow southern arm of Hudson Bay, c.300 mi (480 km) long and 140 mi (230 km) wide, E central Canada, in Nunavut Territory between Ont. and Que. Numerous rivers flow into the bay; many of these have been developed for hydroelectric power in Quebec (see  Coast. I think this is long overdue OVERDUE. , we should be helping each other. There is too much to do alone: economic development, infrastructure, lobbying government, etc.

Q What's the best time of the day for you?

I am an early riser. I have a lot of energy in the morning.

Q What keeps you excited about your job?

Doing something different everyday and trying to make a difference whether that be in the construction industry or working in the community. Timmins is a great place to live.
