The bishop's husband.


While his long life had already been marked by many milestones, openly gay Episcopal bishop Otis Charles E. Otis Charles (b. 1926-04-24, Norristown, Pennsylvania[1]) is the retired bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Utah. Originally from New Jersey, he served first as a priest in Connecticut.  decided he needed one more. Charles came out in 1993, after he was retired, and subsequently divorced his wife. While he was the world's first bishop to come out as gay, V. It is bordered by Massachusetts (S), Vermont, with the Connecticut R. forming the boundary (W), the Canadian province of Quebec (NW), and Maine and a short strip of the Atlantic Ocean (E).  was the first openly gay man to be elected as a bishop.
