late in the second half to take - and make - game-icing free throws.

"It's not a great feeling," Pluimer said.

But it was a reality, as the Ducks made 18-of-19 free throws in the final nine minutes to help keep the Bruins at bay in a 76-60 victory for Oregon at McArthur Court McArthur Court is a basketball arena located on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene. Also known as "The Pit," it is known as one of the toughest arenas in the country for opposing players to play in. The arena is named for Clifton N.  on Thursday night.

That kind of resiliency The ability to recover from a failure. The term may be applied to hardware, software or data.  was nowhere to be found Thursday, as the Bruins trailed 34-30 at halftime and were never able to pull out of their hole in the second half.

"I think life is different on the road," said UCLA coach Kathy Olivier, noting that her teams' last three wins came at home. "At home, if you get down, you can still make that second push."

Olivier paused, then added: "On the road, the calls weren't going our way."

Not on this night anyway.

The Ducks were whistled for 12 fouls, sending the Bruins to the line nine times. UCLA was called for 21 fouls and sent Oregon to the free-throw line 23 times, where it made 22 of those shots.

"We only got to the free-throw line nine times, so we weren't getting a lot of calls, and you tend to get a little down when things aren't going your way," Olivier said. "But it was on the road, and Oregon tends to be much better at home than they are on the road and they had a good game plan tonight."

Though it probably didn't plan for 23 trips to the free-throw line.

"We battled the whole game, and we didn't get a lot of calls," said Noelle Quinn Noelle Quinn (born January 3, 1985 in Los Angeles, California) is a professional basketball player in the WNBA, currently playing for the Minnesota Lynx.

, who led the Bruins with 16 points and eight rebounds. "I don't want to keep harping on it, but when you're at home, you get a lot more calls."

But Quinn admitted the Bruins didn't do themselves any favors on quite a few occasions

"There were a lot of times we went deep into the shot clock and we bailed them out with fouls," Quinn said. "It was very frustrating frus·trate

Fouls and free throws were just part of the Bruins' downfall. They shot only 38.7 percent in each half, made just 4-of-16 three-point attempts, and had only five assists on their 24 field goals.

"It means we didn't really get anything off our transition game ... and we weren't shooting the ball well," Olivier said. "We've been shooting a higher percentage all year, but tonight we couldn't get on any kind of run. ... (The Ducks) made the second pass, they shot the ball well."
