The acquisitive HCPro continues to buy information and training properties.


When NL/NL reported the management-led buyout of HCPro Corp. a year and a half ago, we quoted CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Bruce Guzowski: "This transaction will allow us to expand our industry leadership position through internally developed products and product lines in our current and new markets. We will also be very active in acquiring new assets and companies" (NL/NL 12/31/02).

The company has certainly made good on its word:

* In July 2003, HCPro bought Educational Planning Services Corp. (EPSCO), a publisher of training materials and manuals used by nurses, aides, and nurse managers.

* Earlier this year, HCPro acquired the Nurse Recruitment and Retention newsletter from PubWorld Inc.

* This month the Marblehead, Mass.-based company made two more strategic acquisitions.

It acquired the assets of ePharmaceuticals and its flagship product A primary product of a company, which is typically why the company was founded and/or what made it well known. For example, MS-DOS, Windows and the Microsoft Office suite have been flagship products of Microsoft. . ePharm5, an e-business intelligence subscription service, delivers technology innovation information via e-mail to more than 1,000 pharmaceutical industry professionals each business day.

Guzowski said, "This acquisition aligns perfectly with our growth objectives in the pharma industry and in electronic publishing."

Philadelphia-based Medical Broadcasting Company (www.mbcnet.com) launched ePharm5 in 2000. The service covers the top five developments in health care that could drive emerging technology innovation within the pharmaceutical industry. Every issue features original research, interviews, and analyses.

HCPro also recently acquired the assets of E-quipping, a nurse aide training company.
