The Whole Lesbian Sex Book: A Passionate Guide for All of Us.

The Whole Lesbian Sex Book: A Passionate Guide for All of us * Felice Newman * Cleis Press * $21.95

"I'm not a social scientist, therapist, or health care worker," writes Felice Newman in the introduction to The Whole Lesbian Sex Book. "What makes me a lesbian sex expert is that I have devoted myself to erotic exploration."

"I ... believe we can teach each other how to have sex," Newman writes. "After all, no one else will teach us." No kidding. Sex is as loaded with moral overtones for lesbians as it is for any other group of people. Perhaps more so, given the infamous "Lesbian Sex Wars" that so often pitted politics against pleasure during the past two decades. But a whole new generation of women has grown up since then. Young big-city dykes can take lesbian porn, all-girl strip shows, sapphic bondage and discipline, and women-only sex parties for granted.

The Whole Lesbian Sex Book seems perfect for these postmodern queer grrrls. Newman's warm and accessible text is inclusive of inclusive of

Unfortunately, Newman's rah-rah tone occasionally grates. There's something disconcerting dis·con·cert
