Attention to Detail: If you aren't attentive to detail in any medical profession, the results could be disastrous. Errors can be life-threatening.

Communication Skills: Excellent nurses know how to communicate by listening as well as speaking with doctors, patients and their loved ones. This also means following directions well.

Compassionate: Having compassion and empathy for people who are in pain and suffering will give you a good bedside manner.

Emotional Stability: You need to have emotional stability as a great nurse because your patients and coworkers won't always necessarily have it. This job can be stressful and often depressing, so you must be able to get through the tough times without losing your cool.

Fast Response: When emergencies arise, you must be able to act quickly and be fully prepared to address the problems at hand.
