John Ray Grisham (born February 8, 1955) is a former politician, retired attorney, American novelist and author best known for his works of modern legal drama.

Grisham focuses more on family interaction than lawyerly workings in this novel, and the result is a low-key low-key also low-keyed

 story that may not hold everyone's attention. At the center is Ray Atlee, lawyer and son of a famous judge, who must solve a monetary mystery after his father's death. The mystery may sully the judge's CERTIFICATE, JUDGE'S, English practice. The judge who tries the cause is authorized by several statutes in certain cases to certify, so as to decide when the party or parties shall or shall not be entitled to costs.  fine reputation and it may also get Ray killed.

Beck's narration is only semi-voiced, which means that several of the Southern males populating the story sound similar to each other, but Grisham's writing usually makes it clear who is speaking to whom. End-of-side messages would be helpful in the CD format, as it is very easy for listeners to loop back to track one without realizing it.
