The Sound of Music.


Broadway revival of The Sound of Music produced by Hallmark sounds like it should cater to Disney-fed families who couldn't get tickets to The Lion King. Surprisingly, this Sound of Music is much less icky than you'd expect. Director Susan H. Schulman Susan H. Schulman is an American theater director.

Intent on a career as an actress, Schulman studied drama at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island, New York in the 1960s. She attended Yale University on a playwrighting fellowship, graduating with a Master's Degree.
, who staged the much-praised 1989 revival of Sweeney Todd, is a real artist who demands high standards in acting, design, and music.

Heading a uniformly talented cast, Rebecca Luker is an excellent and honest Maria. Though she's unlikely to inspire a generation of budding gay boys to sing, "I am 16 going on 17," grown-up grown-up
