Dekker, Thomas Dekker, Thomas, c,1570–1632, English dramatist and pamphleteer. Little is known of his life except that he frequently suffered from poverty and served several prison terms for debt. He began his literary career c.1598 working for Philip Henslowe. . The Shoemaker's Holiday.

A reprint of the Revels 1979 edition, based on the first quarto First quarto is a bibliographic term, usually encountered in the study of English literature in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, especially in regard to the early printings of the plays of English Renaissance theatre.  (1600). Spelling and punctuation are modernized, collations of "substantive departures" from Q1 are recorded in footnotes, and extensive critical apparatus is supplied. An index to the commentary is included.
