The Salvation Army and General Growth Properties Team up to Gather Donations for the Victims of the California Wildfires.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 4, 2003

General Growth Properties (GGP), a Real Estate Investment Trust, whose holdings include shopping malls, is collaborating with The Salvation Army in Southern California and The American Red Cross, to collect donations supporting the efforts of "Operation Firestorm Relief." This program, created by General Growth Properties, is designed to aid victims and firefighters on the front lines. GGP has donation sites at the: Chula Vista Center, Galleria Mall at Tyler, Glendale Galleria, Montclair Plaza, Moreno Valley Mall, and the Northridge Fashion Center, in the customer service area. These sites will accept monetary donations and/or these specific new and unopened items: lip balm, eyewash or drops, snack food (i.e. beef jerky), sports drinks, blankets, water and canned food. The collection drive is currently in progress and will run until November 16.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the firefighters and those residents who've been affected by these terrible wildfires," said Wally Brewster, senior vice president marketing and communications for General Growth Properties. "We take our role as a community leader seriously, especially in times of crisis as we're seeing throughout Southern California.

On the front lines, in San Diego and San Bernardino, Salvation Army emergency disaster services personnel are currently providing round-the-clock meals and pastoral crisis counseling to fire and police officials and affected residents.

The Salvation Army's Camp in Malibu is also providing housing, food, and recreational activities for 150 displaced students from the CEDU High School, located in Running Springs.
