The SNIA Elects Millenium Board At Storage Network World Conference.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 21, 1999--

The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) met Tuesday night to elect its board of directors for the 99-00 term.

That same evening, the board also met to elect the executive committee for the coming year. For the term that begins immediately, the board elected: -0-

--   Chair: Larry Krantz, 1998-99 SNIA chief marketing officer and EMC
     senior technologist,

--   Vice Chair: Clod Barrera, 1998-99 SNIA board secretary and IBM
     director of storage systems strategy,

--   Secretary: Gary Phillips, 1998-99 chair of the SNIA
     Interoperability Lab project and Compaq Computer Corp. manager of
     storage software, engineering and technology,

--   Treasurer: Scott McIntyre, 1998-99 chair of the SNIA Web site
     committee and Legato Systems, Inc., business line manager for
     storage networking.

"This new board has a tough act to follow, and I feel confident that we will make a significant mark on the industry," said Krantz. "Last year the SNIA heard the industry's call for a fast and aggressive response to the issues facing the industry. With the leadership of Dr. Paul Borrill as chair, we made dramatic investments in the infrastructure and achieved notable technical progress, culminating in sold-out Storage Networking University courses and unprecedented interoperability and CIM demos here at the Storage Network World Conference. "For 1999-00, we have budgeted more than 25 percent of our revenues to support technical and workgroup activities, with a similar amount budgeted for professional and educational projects. Our job for the next year is to get closer to the IT community," said Krantz.

The SNIA membership elected first-time board members Gary Phillips; Kumar Malavalli, Brocade Communications Corp. vice president of technology; and Dona Stever, chair of the Storage Media Library working group and Highground Systems, Inc., director of advanced technology. Four members of the 1998-99 board were returned to office: Larry Krantz; Barbara Bardach, 1998-99 board treasurer and Convergent Systems senior directors, strategic relations; Brenda Christensen, 1998-99 chair of the conference committee and vice president of marketing and sales at TROIKA Networks, Inc.; and Brad Stamas, chair of the SNIA Technology Council and senior strategist at Storage Technology Corp.
