The Russian Oil & Gas Producers: Rosneftegaz

Part of the old Rosneft structure, but not belonging to the reorganised RAO Rosneft, Rosneftegaz extracts and collects associated gas from Russia's oilfields. Its production in 1995 fell to 29.2 BCM/year, from 29.7 BCM in 1994 and 33.6 BCM in 1993. To compare, Russia's total production of associated and non-associated gases was 594.9 BCM in 1995, 606.8 BCM in 1994 and 617.6 BCM in 1993.

According to a government projection, Rosneftegaz' output will fall to 20 BCM/year by 2000 and to 15 BCM/year by 2010. By contrast, Russia's production of non-associated gas is expected to rise from 565.7 BCM in 1995 to 750-873 BCM/year in 2000 and to 878-1,018 BCM/year by 2010. The bulk will be produced by Gazprom, the biggest gas company in the world and by far the biggest business group in Russia.
