The Rise and the Fall #5.

This one's been consistently at the top of the heap since I've been seeing it, and could very well stand as an example to others if they gave half a shit, took their thumbs out of their asses, and stopped picking their noses for five minutes. Tight layout, great photo reproduction, solid writing, and, perhaps most importantly of all, interesting subject matter that's not just going to appeal to six of the editor's friends. Linda Bukowski's a fan (after she was interviewed in a previous issue) and has given up some original Bukowski poems (a dream come true for most, if not all, 'zinesters). It's also got some regular reportage of the Channel Street Project, a quick interview with (and some art from) Raymond Pettibon, interviews with Saccharine sac·cha·rine (skr-n, - Trust, the Soviettes, and the Fleshies, coverage of the Wicked Wahina girls' contest, record/show reviews, and way more. It's got a San Pedro Pedro. For Spanish and Portuguese rulers thus named, use Peter. angle, but it's not parochial by any means. One of the best things to come across my desk. Send a couple bucks to: PO Box 1794, San Pedro, CA 90733 (or free in San Pedro)
