The Real Estate Board of New York annual banquet Thursday, January 15, 2004.


With a flourish of evening dresses and tuxedo tails, 2,700 real estate industry professionals stepped out to celebrate the Real Estate Board of New York's 108th Annual Gala on January 15 at the New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 Hilton.

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Senator Charles Schumer, New York State Attorney General The New York State Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of New York. The office has been in existence in some form since 1626, under the Dutch colonial government of New York.  Elliott Spitzer, State Senator Joseph Bruno, and many other state and city officials joined the industry's top leaders.

Six standout executives were the honored guests of the evening. Larry Silverstein, president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Silverstein Properties Inc., received the Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award for his tireless efforts to redevelop the World Trade Center site and his lifetime of commitment to New York City New York City: see New York, city.

Past REBNY REBNY Real Estate Board of New York  Chairman Burton P. Resnick was honored with the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate Award for his years of dedication to the industry and the Real Estate Board of New York.

The Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award was presented to Frederick Kane Marek, founder of the Vortex Group, who initiated and led a REBNY fund drive to make the holiday season joyful for children living in Lower Manhattan affected by the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Benjamin Fox, executive vice president and principal of Newmark New Spectrum Retail LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

, received the Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award to celebrate his successful years in leasing.

Matthew Duthie, senior vice president/director of operations of Reckson Associates New York Division, was awarded the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award. Duthie manages a portfolio of five Manhattan properties, encompassing 3.6 million square feet.

Finally, Mitchell Arkin, a director at Cushman & Wakefield, took home the Young Men's and Women's Real Estate Association's (YM/REA) Young Real Estate Man of the Year Award. With more than two decades of experience under his belt, Arkin has completed thousands of transactions.

At the banquet, REBNY also honored Thomas O'Hanlon, REBNY Senior Vice President for Membership and Publications, who is retiring after 50 years of dedicated service to the Board.
