The Public Library of Science (PLoS; San Francisco, CA) will launch "Neglected Tropical Diseases" with a Fall issue.


The Public Library of Science (PLoS; San Francisco San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden , CA) will launch "Neglected Tropical Diseases Tropical diseases are infectious diseases that either occur uniquely in tropical and subtropical regions (which is rare) or, more commonly, are either more widespread in the tropics or more difficult to prevent or control. " with a Fall issue. The new open access, online journal will publish research on all scientific, medical and public-health aspects of those tropical diseases affecting the world population. Targeted to researchers, scientists and doctors, the journal will promote science, new policies and advocacy in those countries in which neglected tropical diseases are endemic endemic /en·dem·ic/ (en-dem´ik) present or usually prevalent in a population at all times.
