The Pils move forward--or backward?Despite their internal conflicts (Alison Chase, the mother of it all, was fired in December), Pilobolus celebrates its 35th year with three programs at The Joyce. The repertoire includes five pieces by Chase (over her protests), one of which is the lovely and partly nude duet, Shizen, made with alum alum (ăl`əm), any one of a series of isomorphous double salts that are hydrated sulfates of a univalent cation (e.g., potassium, sodium, ammonium, cesium, or thallium) and a trivalent cation (e.g. Moses Pendleton Moses Pendleton is the Choreographer and Artistic Director of Momix a company of dancer-illusionists that formed as an offshoot of Pilobolus which he had co-founded in 1971. He was a Guggenheim Fellow in 1977 and the Positano Choreographic Award in 1999. . The season also features Pilobolus, the dance that got the whole gig going, back when the men were Chase's students at Dartmouth; and the joyous, classic closer Day Two by Pendleton. New are Jonathan Wolken's duet, Memento me·men·to n. pl. me·men·tos or me·men·toes A reminder of the past; a keepsake. [Middle English, commemoration of the living or the dead in the Canon of the Mass, from Latin Mori, and Michael Tracy's quartet, Prism. The dancers are always a delight, and this, alas, marks the last Joyce season for the fabulous Renee Jaworski, a mesmerizing mes·mer·ize tr.v. mes·mer·ized, mes·mer·iz·ing, mes·mer·iz·es 1.
