From an interview in The Daily Lyre lyre, generic term for stringed musical instruments having a sound box from which project curved arms joined by a crossbar. The strings are stretched between the crossbar and the sound box and are plucked with the fingers or with a plectrum.  unearthed Unearthed is the name of a Triple J project to find and "dig up" (hence the name) hidden talent in regional Australia.

in northern Greece, Gryllus the Pig, hero, saver of the cosmos, lover of pies, says, "Well, I used to be a human, of course. I was a soldier in the Trojan War, and let me tell you, that was no picnic in the park. Then I was a crewman on Odysseus's ship ... the enchantress Circe ... magically turned me and some of the other lads into pigs. I was glad to have a bit of peace and quiet, after all we'd been through." In fact, Gryllus loved the peace and quiet so much he hid behind a bush so he wouldn't get zapped back into human form. Unfortunately, he was captured by hunters and carried on a pole into a dinky market town on agora day. Bought for 200 drachmas by Sibyl sibyl (sĭb`ĭl), in classical mythology and religion, prophetess. There were said to be as many as 10 sibyls, variously located and represented. The most famous was the Cumaean sibyl, described by Vergil in the Aeneid. , a prophetess in training at Apollo's shrine at Delphi, he soon discovers that he and some unwashed goatherd are the only ones who can save the universe from total destruction.

The Pig Scrolls is hilarious, like Monty Python doing Greek mythology, complete with rude limericks, one-liners, egregious puns (is there any other kind?), monsters, and ineffective gods. True, Gryllus is a cowardly pig, but he does stop Thanatos, the embodiment of death, from turning the cosmos back into Chaos. And Gryllus is good at riddles: Why did the hydra cross the road? How many Spartans does it take to screw in to force in by turning or twisting.

a torch holder? Should you listen to this book? Yes, because it is read by the brilliant Robert LLewellyn in full-voiced splendor, who does the cheeky Gryllus with bravado, Sibyl with barely controlled frustration, dotty old Thales, and Bumscruff the goatherd who turns out to be ... was that thunder I heard?
