Caption: THE PALM BEACH COUNTY TRIAL LAWYERS Association recently made a $10,000 donation to the Palm Beach Community College Foundation. The money will be used to provide emergency grants for students facing financial hardships that threaten their ability to stay in school. The donation was made in honor of state Sen. Ken Pruitt, R-Port St. Lucie, a supporter of PBCC, after whom the college's plaza at the Education and Training Center is named. Rick Schuster, executive director of the foundation, said the funds will go into the Student Services Emergency Grant Fund, which was established last school year to replace the emergency loan fund. The fund provides up to $500 a year to students who can document their need and are in good academic standing.
