NTIC is a 33 year-old Chicago-based non-profit that serves as a resource center for grassroots and neighborhood groups. Starting in the 1970's, NTIC's efforts have changed and improved the home mortgage industry -- opening up homeownership for millions of Americans.

The PMI Foundation and NTIC share the common goals of reducing barriers to homeownership, improving life in underserved communities and creating opportunities for economically challenged families to thrive.

"The PMI Foundation is pleased to enter into an affordable housing partnership with NTIC, whose track record of promoting and preserving affordable housing makes them a natural fit for PMI," said Charles Broom, President of The PMI Foundation.

"Our business model is to create affordable housing opportunities for first time homebuyers, especially in traditionally underserved communities and emerging markets. NTIC's efforts have encouraged financial institutions to invest in minority and underserved communities," said Mr. Broom.

PMI's support will help fund affordable housing efforts under NTIC's "Creating and Protecting the Assets of Communities, Families and Individuals" project. The project has three primary goals:

--Increase access to quality, fair-priced credit in low-to-moderate income and minority communities;

--Curtail predatory lending practices, which jeopardize communities, increase foreclosures and strip the assets of homeowners; and

--Improve accountability between community organizations and government housing programs.

"NTIC appreciates the significant investment by PMI into our neighborhoods. With PMI as a key collaborator, NTIC will keep more families in their homes and promote affordable housing. PMI has put their money where their mouth is and has made a real commitment to community revitalization," said Joseph W. Mariano, Executive Director, NTIC.
