Corwin, chairman of Metropolitan Theaters and supporter of multiple sclerosis multiple sclerosis (MS), chronic, slowly progressive autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks the protective myelin sheaths that surround the nerve cells of the brain and spinal cord (a process called demyelination), resulting in damaged areas research, with the Dorothy Corwin Spirit of Life award. The award was named after Corwin's mother, who was also a long-time supporter of multiple sclerosis research. The award is given each year to an individual living with multiple sclerosis.
