The Midwest Business Group on Health (MBGH MBGH Midwest Business Group on Health (Chicago, Illinois)

), a prominent, non-profit business health coalition based in Chicago, and DoctorQuality, a leading provider of healthcare quality and patient safety services, have agreed to jointly sponsor a project to help consumers choose their doctors.

The initiative, called "The Doctor Data Project," will assess the impact and usability How easy something is to use. Both software and Web sites can be tested for usability. In 1998, the MBGH Consumer Information and Education Committee began phase one of the Doctor Data Project to assess the ability of the marketplace to provide employees with desired information about individual doctors.

This system, called Quality Ratings, uses both public and proprietary data as well as consumer-reported information to determine compliance with best practice criteria.

In addition, participants in the MBGH study will be able to access and test other DoctorQuality products that are designed to inform and empower empower verb To encourage or provide a person with the means or information to become involved in solving his/her own problems  consumers in their healthcare decision making processes.

These are Quality Practices, a set of easy-to-use, online workbooks written to educate the consumer about best practices, and My Quality Coach, an electronic approach to helping employees better understand their condition and manage their care.
