series (following Primary Inversion Primary Inversion is a science fiction novel in the Saga of the Skolian Empire by Catherine Asaro. There he encounters a society managed by women who go to great efforts to shield their world from dominance by the Skolian Empire. For 20 years Kelric is kept prisoner, advisor, and concubine CONCUBINE. A woman who cohabits with a man as his wife, without being married.  as he is traded back and forth throughout the 12 estates of Coba. His unique skills and technologically enhanced abilities allow him to assist his captors, whom he comes to love.

Read in primarily single voice by Fields, this space saga will appeal to McCaffrey fans. Fields' no-nonsense, slightly husky husky: see Siberian husky.  voice seems to suit the action well although her slightly lower tones for Kelric seem forced at times. The intriguing story, however, with its elements of space adventure and romance, will capture listeners. Bette D. Ammon, Director, Missoula P.L., Missoula, MT
