WHAT: For one special night, the Junior League of Oakland-East Bay,
Inc. (JLOEB) invites Bay Area residents to celebrate seven
decades of community service, pay tribute to past League
presidents, and benefit JLOEB community projects, focusing
on Children at Risk.
PUMPS & The celebration begins 6 p.m., on Sat., April 9, 2005.
PEARLS: Complete with pearls, pumps and PJs, event includes: an
exclusive preview of a $1 million dollar pearl collection;
champagne glass raffle; cocktail greeting; three-course
dinner, prepared by Chef Charles Hechinger, wine pairing by
award-winning winemaker Gina Gallo; wearable centerpieces
featuring Stuart Weitzman pumps; live auction called by
Anthony Ponter, former voice of Jaguar Cars; Michael Fender
Entertainment; and more!
WHERE: Claremont Resort & Spa in Berkeley, California, 41 Tunnel
Road, Berkeley.
The Claremont provides the ideal setting for the event
as the hotel once served as the League's headquarters.
PEARLS Spirits In Stone (http://spiritsinstone.com) will be
PREVIEW: bringing in $1 million worth of exquisite pearls from the
European House of Gellner. A preview of the vast collection
will be hosted at the Claremont Hotel - Fri., April 8th from
noon to 8 p.m. and Sat., April 9th from noon to 3 p.m. There
is no charge to attend; reservations required: 877-574-6625.
Twenty percent of purchases during the preview and fundraiser
benefit JLOEB community projects.
PAJAMA Hostesses at the Pumps & Pearls event will be wearing a
VISUALS: selection of SF-based designer Michelle Moquin's PJs -
favorites among actresses Sharon Stone and Marcia Gay Hayden,
and the official jammies for the 76th Annual Academy
Awards(R) goody bags. From April 9 - April 30, MOQ Designs
will run a promotion at www.michellemoquin.com during
which 25% of pajamas purchased benefit JLOEB community
projects.
WHY: Throughout its 70-year history, the JLOEB has contributed
more than 7 million volunteer hours and $3 million to
community agencies in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Bay
Area residents are invited to celebrate these achievements,
recognize the possibility that is within women as they make
Junior League a part of their lives, and help the League
