The Internet's Brightest Shine at MIT Sloans 2nd annual eBusiness awards.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2000

If there was any doubt as to who todays eBusiness elite are, the 2nd annual Sloan eBusiness awards made it all disappear. The event-held last evening at the filled-to-the-brim MIT MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology  Tang Centersingled out seven leading-edge organizations who have distanced themselves from the pack with models and technologies executed through eBusiness. More than 400 industry movers and shakers collaborated to recognize innovative business models and technologies executed through eBusiness.

Speaking to the role ebusiness has had in reshaping the landscape of commerce, Dobbs declared, The future aint what it was. Its changing almost daily, and were fortunate to be participants in it.

The most distinguishing attribute of the ceremony was the cross-section of winners. While some companies were recognized for revolutionizing the way we do business, others were honored for executing innovative eBusiness models.

The Global Reach Award went to San Jose, California-based eBay (www.ebay.com) for successfully leveraging the Internet as a channel for extending global reach. eBay is the leading person-to-person trading site, providing over 3.5 million new auctions and 400,000 new items every day.

The award for Industry Transformation went to Atlantas Healtheon/WebMD (www.webmd.com). Healthon/WebMD was recognized for creating new areas of opportunity and new benefits to consumers. Handspring (www.handspring.com), an innovator in the handheld computing industry, captured the Rookie of the Year Award Rookie of the Year award is newly established in 1985 that third season in K-League. Although eBusiness originating in the United States is receiving the lions share of attention right now, Internet-based business revolutions are occurring abroad. NTTDoCoMo (www.nttdocomo.com), based in Japan, took home the International Power Play Award. NTTDoCoMo is Japans leading wireless service provider. In 1999, DoCoMo released their new I-mode phone, which allows users to both make phone calls and surf the Internet.
