Our first thought was, Wouldn’t that free-lancer face the same conflicts of interest that Times staff reporters do? Not necessarily. Oder uncovered a precedent at the Seattle Times. Unfortunately, the precedent got canned--or more precisely, his contract was not renewed.

Meanwhile, NoLandGrab reimagines today’s Times article on eminent domain eminent domain, the right of a government to force the owner of private property sell it if it is needed for a public use. The right is based on the doctrine that a sovereign state has dominion over all lands and buildings within its borders, which has its origins in  as if it were Bruce Ratner talking about the Times building, rather than Douglas Durst about the Bank of America tower Bank of America Tower is the name of several buildings: United States
  • Bank of America Tower (Albuquerque) in New Mexico
  • Bank of America Tower (Boca Raton) in Florida
  • Bank of America Tower (Jacksonville) in Florida
. The parallels are unmistakable. -
