The Honorable Andrew Young Andrew Jackson Young, Jr. (born March 12, 1932) is an American civil rights activist, former mayor of Atlanta, Georgia, and was the United States' first African-American ambassador to the United Nations.  will serve as the featured speaker at the Apostolic Church the Christian church; - so called on account of its apostolic foundation, doctrine, and order. The churches of Rome, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem were called apostolic churches.

Brazier Dr. Arthur M. Brazier is the pastor of the Apostolic Church of God in the Chicago neighborhood of Woodlawn. He is also a bishop and a prominent civic leader. He is a founder of The Woodlawn Organization, which was prominent in Chicago's civil rights movement in the 1960s and , Pastor of Apostolic Church of God.

Nearly 400 people are expected to attend this year's Scholarship Awards Dinner event.

A committee of 12 people determines who receives the Scholarships based on the following:
-- The 18 students selected for the scholarships must be planning to attend or
currently attending a four-year accredited college or university.

-- Students selected must fall in one of the three categories: students
graduating from high school this year and members of Apostolic Church of God;
Chicago area students (specifically in the Woodlawn community) graduating from
high school this year that are not members of Apostolic; and Apostolic members
going into their sophomore, junior or senior year of undergraduate school.

-- A submission of an application, an essay describing their positive
contributions in the areas of community service, volunteer activities, tutoring
or contributions to school, community, church or their "Plans for the Future,"
two letters of recommendation, a brief explanation of how they plan to finance
their college education and why the scholarship is needed, and an official
transcript.


In addition, II and One contractors & the Strivettes Committee of The Apostolic Church of God will also award scholarships to Chicago students.

The Apostolic Church of God is dedicated to glorifying God, who has given us the highest revelation of Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ. The church has an active membership of more than 16,000. It offers an array of outreach programs, and ministries for youth, adults, senior citizens, the homeless, shut ins, the poor and those who are imprisoned im·pris·on

. Additionally, F.O.C.U.S. (Fostering Our Christian Unity and Strength) classes are offered for educational and spiritual growth and development. The church's worship service is televised every Sunday at 8:00 a.m. on WCIU-TV 26. A radio Bible class is broadcasted every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. on WYCA/92.3 FM.

Bishop Brazier has been the pastor of The Apostolic Church of God for more than 40 years. He is an executive of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World The Pentecostal Assemblies of The World, Inc. (PAW) is the oldest Oneness Pentecostal organization in existence, and was founded in 1906, formally organized in 1912 as adherents of trinitarian beliefs, and in 1916 re-organized as a Oneness Pentecostal organization.  and was elevated to the office of Bishop in 1976. Bishop Brazier is the Diocesan of the 6th Episcopal District, which includes more than 80 churches in Illinois.
